LINES OF ACTION
The Corioli Institute's research and practice extend across 12 countries on four continents, impacting diverse populations. It integrates decades of experience in dealing with conflict, migration, climate change, peacebuilding, and the reintegration of formerly armed actors. We cultivate partnerships with local researchers and nonprofits, with whom we collaboratively implement our projects. Our approach involves carrying out ethnographic studies, interviews, and mixed-method impact assessments, resulting in comprehensive research and consultancy outputs for our partners and target audiences.
Security and Reintegration
Across multiple regions affected by war, criminal violence, and institutional fragility, we partner with academic institutions, government stakeholders, practitioners, and local communities to generate actionable knowledge and field-informed responses to complex security and social challenges. These included veteran-led research and workshops, stakeholder interviews, and the development of evidence-based recommendations linking reintegration, mental health, and community-level stabilization.
Strategic Policy and Advisory
Our research, policy development, and stakeholder engagement work shapes donor and government thinking on critical issues such as veteran reintegration in Ukraine, psychosocial support during and after war and conflict, and the climate–security–migration nexus. We focused on ensuring that policy and institutional responses reflect the lived realities of violence-affected populations and the constraints facing implementing partners.
Convening and Dialogue
We convene veterans, practitioners, policymakers, and researchers around shared security and reintegration challenges. Our convening work serves as a bridge between research and practice, ensuring that insights generated through fieldwork and analysis could inform real-time decision-making and that practitioner perspectives continued to shape our research agenda and program design.
Publications and Reports
Our publications and public-facing work in Ukraine, Latin America, the United States, and South Asia documented the experiences of veterans, communities, and institutions confronting the long-term impacts of war and organized violence. These outputs ranged from policy briefs and analytical reports to essays, media contributions, and teaching materials, all oriented toward bridging scholarship, practice, and public understanding.
